About
Alireza joined UIC in spring 2022 as a PhD student in the Mechanical Engineering department. He was appointed as the lab manager of ISNL in the fall of 2023. He graduated with a Master of Science Degree in Materials Engineering from the University of Tehran, Iran. His main research focuses on the characterization of novel nanomaterials using advanced techniques such as electron microscopy, x-ray photon spectroscopy, and in-situ TEM imaging. He is an expert user of the ARM 200CF scanning transmission electron microscope located in UIC's resource research center. As part of his research, he specializes in microanalysis techniques on S/TEM, such as EELS, EDS, and EFTEM. He serves as a lab manager at ISNL, where he also mentors undergraduate and early-career master's students. Additionally, he holds the position of hygiene officer at ISNL, responsible for working with the Environmental Health and Safety Office at UIC to ensure the lab is not at risk of contamination.
In his spare time, he enjoys watching movies and reading books, and he is a big supporter of the Liverpool football club. He would love to have a casual chat about his interests while sipping a cup of coffee.
